Chefs Against Childhood Cancer

Fort Lauderdale, FL 6/4/2011

Pelican Party and Tent Rental was happy to support the students of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale who ran a charitable event on June 4, 2011. The Chefs ran a dinner dance and auction to raise funds to donate to the American Cancer Society and Curesearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation. We were inspired by the story of local resident Bella Rodriquez-Torres, a young eight year old, who is recovering from Stage 4 Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma.

This event also enabled students to earn credit and complete the Leadership and Organization Development course run by Professor Alicia Stern. The event was a semi-formal event showcasing the culinary styles of the students at the International Culinary School at the Art Institutes and featuring a Chinese/Silent auction. Pelican Party and Tent Rentals was happy to provide tents, a dance floor, linens and tables to support not only the student body and community, but this worthwhile charity as well.

Pelican Party Helps Feed the Homeless

Fort Lauderdale, FL 11/23/2009

Pelican Party and Tent Rentals, LLC was proud to participate with Health Care for the Homeless which held its 6th Annual Homeless Thanksgiving Feast on November 23, 2009 at the Little House. ?It was a great success. Three hundred and thirty-two (332) individuals were served a wonderful hot Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings. This would not have been possible without the generous donations of food (most of it already prepared), supplies and decorations and most importantly the time and presence of our many volunteers. It was taken to another level with a wonderful large tent under which our guests were seated and the beautiful fall-hued balloons which decorated the tent and tables? commented Nadine Reeves with Broward Health.

?The Health Care for the Homeless Team would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who donated and volunteered - and there were so many of you. We could not have done it without you? added Reeves.

"This was our first year participating with the Annual Homeless Thanksgiving Feast. All the staff was a delight to work with to make this year a success" commented James Schafer, President of Pelican Party and Tent Rentals, LLC. Pelican Party looks forward to providing an even larger tent next Thanksgiving given the growing number of individuals turning out for the hot Thanksgiving meal. I would encourage every business to help their community any way they can" added Schafer.

Pelican Party was happy to provide St. Gregory the Great Church a large tent in support of their annual Walk-A-Thon. This year's theme was Walk, Rock and Roll and considered by all a tremendous success. "First and foremost, thanks to our children who definitely “Rocked and Rolled” and to all their teachers for their hard work.  We applaud all of you—you are terrific!  Congratulations, students, for getting in your sponsor sheets with such enthusiasm.  We are proud of our Crusaders!  Hugs to all who supported our students and staff. Special thanks to the Saint Thomas Aquinas Drama Department for sending students to perform a few numbers from the show Grease.  They were awesome!" stated a walk-a-thon organizer.

Pelican Party Opens Holiday Season with Beaux Arts – Festival of Lights

Fort Lauderdale, FL 11/15/09

Pelican Party opened its 2009 Christmas season teaming with Beaux Arts by erecting a 15’x110’ tent on the terrace of the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art. “We were happy to make an in-kind donation to Beaux Arts to support their 22nd annual Festival of Trees fundraising event with a cocktail reception and silent auction” stated James Schafer, President of Pelican Party and Tent Rentals, LLC. “I have never seen our tent look as festive. The nearly 50 lit and decorated Christmas trees were breathtaking. This was also a very special year for the event as it served as the preview for American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell"added Schafer.

Since it inception 50 years ago, Beaux Arts has raised over $5 million for the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale. This all-women organization is the single largest donor to the museum and hosts the Annual Festival of Trees every November. "We really appreciated the opportunity to work with Calla Scully, President of Beaux Arts and Elise Alexander, Secretary. They had a great and dedicated team and I look forward to working with them in the future and with the Museum of Art. The terrace makes for a very sophisticated venue” concluded Schafer.
